Geraldine Hawkins Mackes

 Geraldine Hawkins Mackes, 96, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017 after a short illness.  Gerry was born May 7, 1921 to the late Shurldin and Amy Hawkins in Gilmanton, New Hampshire.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Mackes in 1990, brothers Charles Hawkins and Rolland Hawkins, and sisters Irene Hawkins and Lucille Gilman. 
She is survived by her son Kenneth and his wife Kathy of Raleigh, NC and son Shurldin and his wife Lois of Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Gerry is also survived by her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Gerry graduated from Pittsfield High School in New Hampshire and later settled with her husband Maurice in Skaneateles, New York, where they resided on their farm for over forty years.  With her husband, Gerry traveled across the country many times in their camper, and especially loved their trip to Alaska with their younger son and dog. 
Gerry loved gardening and working outdoors.  She took great pride in canning the produce from her gardens.   A talented seamstress, she used her skills to sew draperies for interior decorators, and loved knitting and crocheting.
One of Gerry’s greatest talents was her beautiful voice.  As a longtime and active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Skaneateles, she is remembered for her contributions to the choir.  Gerry also led the singing at her retirement communities in Florida and North Carolina.  Sharing her singing was one of her greatest joys.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Skaneateles, NY.

 Eleanor Lansbury Myhalik, 92, of Skaneateles, NY passed away on Monday, May 15th at Touch Points Nursing Home in Farmington, CT where she has been living for the pasted 14 years. Eleanor worked for more than 30 years at Welch Allyn. She enjoyed knitting and sewing in her free time. Eleanor is predeceased by her loving husband Michael in 2008 and a son Gary in 2002. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Myhalik & son in law Stephen Calderon, MD of Farmington, CT and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19th at 1pm at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Skaneateles. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 18th from 5 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Skaneateles Food Pantry 24 Jordan Street, Skaneateles, NY 13152.

Wanda A. Defendorf

 Wanda A. Defendorf 90 of Blasdell, NY formally from Skaneateles, NY, found her way to heaven on Sunday, May 14th. Born on January 18, 1927. She was caring, thoughtful, and young at heart. Her favorite activity was working in her flower gardens and reading. Wanda was one of the founders of the Owasco Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Lewis in 2003, a brother and 5 sisters. Wanda is survived by her daughter Paula J. Tenz, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 18th from 11am to 1pm with a funeral service to follow at 1 pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles.  Wanda will be buried in Owasco Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Owasco Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.

SKANEATELES — Christliebe Jedik, 92, of Skaneateles, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Seneca Nursing in Waterloo, N.Y. She took great pride being a member and working at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Skaneateles. Christliebe loved gardening in her yard and also enjoyed doing her word puzzles. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ferdinand, in 1988; a daughter, Greta Radford; a son, Ernest Jedik; son-in-law, Ronald Riester, and a granddaughter, Katie Morrissey. Christliebe is survived by six children, Klara Riester, Ferdinand Jedik Jr. (Ann), Robert Jedik (Debbie), Christine Netzer (Dale), George Jedik (MaryEllen), and John Jedik, and a daughter-in-law, Jean Jedik; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Jane R. Taylor Sheridan

 Jane R. Taylor Sheridan, 93, passed away early Saturday morning, May 6, 2017 at The Commons in Auburn, where she had been living since 2015. Born in Marcellus, she and her husband, Chuck, who were married for 65 years, lived in Skaneateles Falls for most of their married life, and spent their last years together at The Gateway in Skaneateles. Jane worked at the Skaneateles Central Schools for many years. Jane loved to crochet, cook, bake, play cards, play the slots at Turning Stone, and most of all, spend time with friends and family. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was very kind, and generous. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, and Valentine Meyer Post 317 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a beloved Mom, Gramma, and “Gigi.” Jane is survived by her daughter, Patti (Doc) Rising, and sons Chuck (Patty) and Gary (Donna) Sheridan. Also, grandchildren Julie (Scott) Thomas, Lisa Sheridan, Eric (Mary) Sheridan, Stacy (Craig) Hilton, Mandy (Rich) Hulett, Jill (Paul) Buress, and Heather (Andres) Gimenez, 12 great-grandchildren, her sister Carol Panik, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband in 2013, her sisters, and brother. Her former neighbors on School Street will remember her best for her popcorn balls every Halloween. A special thanks to the 2nd floor staff at The Commons. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 10am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Skaneateles. Calling will be held on Monday, May 8th from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to SAVES.

Swaneatta Jean Dove Wallace

Swaneatta Jean Dove Wallace, 81 of Skaneateles, passed away on May 1st at Auburn Community Hospital. Jean graduated in 1953 from Skaneateles Central School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Piscitell Stone and Supply in Syracuse, NY for many years.
Jean is predeceased by her loving husband Thomas in 2002. She is survived by her son Charles Wallace of Skaneateles and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 6 at St. James Episcopal Church Skaneateles at 10am. Calling hours will be held on Friday May 5th from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. In lieu of flowers donations in Jean’s name can be made to the Skaneateles Fire Department 77 West Genesee Street, Skaneateles, NY 13152 or to the SPCA 41 York Street, Auburn, NY 13021.
