Adwilda E, "Betty" McPeck passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 one week after celebrating her 99th birthday. Betty was born on May 21, 1920 in Syracuse to Thomas and Adwilda Jones. Betty graduated from Valley High School. She married George I. McPeck on February 15, 1947 at St. Lucy's Church in Syracuse. They shared 50 wonderful years together living in Manlius, before George's passing in 1997, having enjoyed summering at their cottage on Otisco Lake, traveling south during the winter months and visiting the Adirondacks. She was a very involved and active member of both the Manlius Garden Club and Manlius Senior Center where she enjoyed playing bridge. Betty is survived by sons, Mark (Vickie) and Michael (Peg); grandchildren, Patrick, Molly (Daniel) Ruhlman, Daniel (Sarah), Matthew (Britney), great-grandchildren, Ryan, Evan, Allison, Emilia McPeck and Maddy Ruhlman. Services are private. Betty will be buried next to her husband George in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Mary Ann (Kuppinger) Carmody, 86, passed away Sunday, May 26, in Fort Myers, Florida. Mary Ann was born March 14, 1933, in Owasco, N.Y., to Henry and Hortense (Proskine) Kuppinger. She graduated from Skaneateles High School and received her nursing degree from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo, NY. Shortly after nursing school, she met William Carmody. They married on December 26, 1959.
Mary Ann was a loving mother of five who also worked as a nurse in New York and then in Indiana at St. Joseph Hospital, earning an advanced degree and continuing into psychiatric nursing, transferring to Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur and then assisting in the opening of the psychiatric unit at McCray Hospital in Kendallville. She retired from McCray in 1996 and moved to Fort Myers, where she enjoyed golfing, swimming, playing cards and dining out with friends. She was also an active member of the Seven Lakes Condo Association. Mary Ann is survived by her loving children, John Carmody (Laura); Colleen Orth (Michael); Patrick Carmody (Jill); Susan Brown; and Brian Carmody (Nicole); 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, William Carmody, brother Thomas Kuppinger and sister Barbara Greenfield. Calling and funeral mass took place June 8 at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Skaneateles, with burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Auburn. Jody Tanner, 66 of 126 South Street Auburn, NY, passed away from after a long battle with COPD on May 24, 2019 at Auburn Community Hospital. Jody is survived by his wife Janel with 22 years of marriage, his daughter Melessa Tanner of Cortland, Jill Tanner of Moravia, Sara Tanner of Union Springs, Joseph Tanner of Auburn and Ashley Tanner of Auburn. His brothers Jeff Tanner and wife Kathy of Auburn, Jon Tanner and wife Pam of Moravia, and sister Kelly Tanner of Port Byron. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Barbara Tanner and brother Jamie Tanner. Jody has 11 grand children.
Jody attended Skaneateles school district and retired from the Aurora Post Office as a rural carrier with 23 years of service. Jody was an avid collector of record albums and loved going record hunting with his good friend Rick Spafford and visiting Angry Mom records in Ithaca NY to see his friend George. Jody also enjoyed collecting baseball cards, coins and old bottles. His favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees and he loved digging up old bottles with his son Joseph when he was still able to do that. Jody's wife and children will always remember the good times they had together. Jody loved going to the zoo, parks, car shows and long walks in the woods to build damns and tepees. Jody and his son Joseph built a damn in the woods together that he enjoyed taking his dogs Duke and Cocoa to for a swim. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10am at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm at the funeral home. Jody will be buried in Lake View Cemetery. Kerwick of Auburn passed away on May 18, 2019 at age 95. Tom lived most of his life in Irondequoit and Rochester. He was a Chemical Engineer with Eastman Kodak Company for his entire career. A graduate of Batavia High School and Cornell University, Tom loved music (jazz), all sports (especially, golf), pets and his daily martini. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 and was stationed in the Philippines during WWII.
Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Patricia, and his son, Danny, he is survived by his children, Ann of Tampa, FL, Tim of Charleston, SC, Ellen (Sue Knapp) of Ft Myers, FL and Old Forge, NY, Nora of Seattle, WA, and Matt (Mary) of Skaneateles, NY and Bradenton, FL; his granddaughter, Micky (Luka) of Charleston, SC; his grandsons, Tommy & Sean of Skaneateles; and his dear friend, Kathleen Karafonda of Rochester. Tom will be remembered for his sense of humor and competitive spirit. Tom’s life will be celebrated at Lakeshore Country Club (1165 Greenleaf Rd) from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Cherishing her memory are her children Jennifer, Jeanne, Jonathan, Cara, her mother Doris Lane, her sister Debra Lane, granddaughter Iris Smith, and friends and relatives. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Cox, and her father Kenneth Lane. Pamela was a graduate of Colgate University, and after earning an MBA from Binghamton Uni-versity, was employed by Xerox Corporation in Rochester, New York. She earned a PhD from Syracuse University in 1997. A long-term Professor of Management at the SUNY Oswego School of Business, Dr. Cox had a major and lasting impact on students and colleagues. She was active in the Finger Lakes Re-triever Club and the Syracuse Obedience Training Club. She excelled at dog training and various forms of competition, including obedience, agility and field trials. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20th at 10am at Robert D. Barbara spent her life loving and caring for her children and grandchildren. As well as many others she babysat and loved like her own. She loved playing Bingo and going to the casino with family and friends. Ann Jedik (Ahn Thi Luong) 76, of Auburn NY, passed away on Friday, May 3rd peacefully with her loving family by her side at Auburn Community Hospital.
Born July, 7th, 1942 in Long an, Vietnam, was the daughter of the late Luong-Thi Huong & Binh Lap. She is survived by her Husband of 46 years, Ferdinand Jedik Jr, her son, Larry Jedik, and three daughters, Diane Jedik, Joanne Jedik, and Maryanne Jedik. And is joining her oldest son Kiet Nguyen. Her many beloved grandchildren and various nieces and nephews. Ann was brought to the United States in 1972 after the Vietnam conflict where Ferdinand then petitioned to have her brought to the United States to start her new life in Borodino NY. Then purchased their first home in Skaneateles Falls after her youngest three children were born. She raised three of her children until 1982, when she moved to Auburn NY. where two of Ann's children from a previous marriage came to America from Vietnam to join the family. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 7th at 11am at Holy Trinity Church, Skaneateles, calling hour will be from 10am to 11am prior to the service. Ann will be buried in Lake view Cemetery.
