 Jeffrey S. Bathgate, 46, of Auburn passed away at his home on Sunday, August 28th after an extended illness.
Born in Auburn, he was a creative and talented flooring installer, owning JB Flooring in Central Florida until he returned to CNY. He was a graduate of Skaneateles Central Schools and was
an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his parents William and Jeanette Bathgate formerly of Skaneateles now residing in South Carolina; brothers Josephs (Mindy) of Skaneateles, James (Christina) of Rochester and Jon (Leslie) of IL. He also leaves behind 2 nieces
and 5 nephews.
Services will be private. He will be buried in Lakeview
Cemetery, Skaneateles.
Memorial donations in Jeff’s name may be made to either Skaneateles Fire Department or SAVES.

Mary Emory Haberstock

Mary-Emory Haberstock of Skaneateles passed away on August 27, 2016 after battling Multiple Myeloma.  She was 81.  Mary-Emory grew up in Baltimore, MD, and lived most of her adult life in Wilton, CT, where she and her husband Roy raised their two children, Alan, of Canaan, ME, and John, of Skaneateles, NY.  Mary-Emory moved to Skaneateles in 2006 following the death of her husband.
She was known for her love of dogs, particularly PBGV’s, and bird watching.  She was also an avid gardener.  Mary-Emory was a regular at the Skaneateles Farmer’s Market.
Mary-Emory is survived by her son John, daughter-in-law Lynne and their 4 children, Taylor, Isabelle, Blake and Sabrina of Skaneateles, by her son Alan, daughter-in-law Kathleen, and grandson Charlie, of Canaan, ME, and dear friends Brenda and Galina.
Memorial Service arrangements are being handled by Robert D. Gray Funeral Home in Skaneateles. The service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 26th, Mary-Emory’s birthday, at the Presbyterian Church in Skaneateles.  A luncheon will follow at the Skaneateles Country Club.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to SAVES (Skaneateles Ambulance Volunteer Emergency Services, savesambulance.com).

Kim Marie Whitten (DeNardo), 45, of Throop, passed away peacefully at her parents’ home on August 26th, after a short illness. She was born on May 31, 1971. She graduated from Southern Cayuga High School and later graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She is survived by her fiancé John Whiffen (Auburn, NY), her four children Joshua Heusler, Nicholas, Hannah, and Ryan DeNardo (Auburn, NY), her parents Terry and (mom) Kathleen Whitten (Marcellus, NY), her mother Terry Seneca (Union Springs, NY), her brothers Jason and Sean Whitten, and Thomas Walters, sister Tammy Riggall, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday August 28th, from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. A memorial services will be held on Monday at 10am at the funeral home, 49 Jordan St. Skaneateles. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of CNY.

Helen F. Huey, 88, of Syracuse, formerly of Skaneateles passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at Upstate Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on April 21, 1928, in Auburn to Leonard F. & Mae (Chapman) Fisher. She was a graduate of Skaneateles Central Schools.
Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling & spending winters in Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Howard J. Huey. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateles and Finger Lakes Antique
Power Tractor Club.
Surviving are her children: Joe (Sandy) Huey of Skaneateles; Susan (Keith) DePauw of Jordan; and Jeff (Cherie) Huey of Cassville; sister-in-law Miss Ellen J. Huey; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren & several cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at the family’s convenience.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Skaneateles on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Skaneateles, NY  13152

Charles G. Vargason

Charles G. Vargason died August 12 at The Commons on St. Anthony.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara (Deles) and his Daughter Paula (David) and son Charles R. (Natoma) and granddaughters Hannah and Audrey.  He was pre-deceased by his son Peter.
Charles was a loving father and husband and a hard working provider for his family.  He was a Navy veteran, having served in WWII as a hospital corpsman in the Philippines.  He also served in the New York State National Guard after the war, achieving the rank of Lieutenant.
Charles was a Skaneateles native, always willing to serve the community as a Boy Scout leader and longtime congregant of St. James Episcopal Church. 
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on his behalf. Services are private.

Raymond Wicks, 69, of Auburn formerly of Skaneateles, passed away on Friday August 12, 2016 at home. Born and raised in Skaneateles to the late Robert and Leitha Van Holtz Wicks, he currently worked as a security guard at Finger Lakes Chiropractic College. He also worked for 20 years at Universal Forestry as a foreman and was a bus driver for the Skaneateles School District.. His true passion in life were his car, lawn mower and cooking. He was an avid SU sports fan and diehard
Green Bay Packers fan.
Ray is survived by his son David; brother Charles, companion Linda Leather and his beloved granddaughter Madison. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Robert.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 17th from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 am at the funeral home, 49 Jordan St., Skaneateles. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skaneateles.

 Catherine Whiting, 92, of 3 Elson Lane, Skaneateles died August 11th at Auburn Community Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 69 years Donald, sons Joseph (Diana), Andrew (Roberta), Daniel and daughter Jeri. She was a loving and giving wife and mother and a supportive grandmother to Heather, Gabriella and Nakeeya Whiting and great grandmother to Ella Christensen. She is also survived by her niece Linda Wheat, friend and caregiver Linda Pientka and her two cats ‘Tweety and Sylvester’. She was a woman of strength, character, intellect and class with a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was always available for her family and her family was always available for her. A special note of gratitude to the staff on the 5th floor at The Commons on St. Anthony in Auburn for the special care that has been shown to both our parents.
She was born and raised in Norwich New York, moving to Skaneateles after her marriage. Until her retirement she worked for the law firm of Milford, Lynch & Shannon. Her main joy was her husband and her family. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed searching for antiques, bargain hunting, camping and cross country skiing with her husband. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Skaneateles Library Association or your nearest no-kill animal shelter. Lars I. Lorentzon, 85, of Skaneateles passed away on Tuesday August 9th at Upstate University Hospital @ Community General. Graduated from Syracuse University in 1957 and loved watching his Syracuse Orangemen play basketball, a stamp collector, master woodworker and in the 1950's was on the ski patrol. Loved skiing in Austria. Lars and his wife Nancy moved to Skaneateles, NY in 1998 from Far Rockaway, NY. Was a member at Dutch Hollow country club - commonly known as "ball washer Lars". Member of the Adirondack 46er Club #736 out of 9,425. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time golfing with his family.
Oh and let's not forget how much he loved a cold beer.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Nancy B. Lorentzon
and his children
Eric Lorentzon, Julie Lorentzon, Karin Lorentzon Rivale and Gary Rivale. His sister Anne Kyle. Grandchildren Brock and Maria Lorentzon and Lauryn Rivale. Lars was predeceased
by a sister Inga Childs.
Services are private. He will be buried in
Lake view Cemetery, Skaneateles.

Charles Root Parsons

Charles Root Parsons, Chairman of Parsons & Associates, Inc., an Insurance and Risk Management Company in Syracuse since 1930, died on Monday. He was 79.
Mr. Parsons, who was known as Chuck, was an innovator in the insurance business. In 1986 the agency was appointed as the New York State Administrator for CNA’s Lawyers Professional Liability Program. The program started with a small number of brokers and has grown to more than 265 brokers today. He was president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New York in 1975-1976. In 1995 Mr. Parsons was named Insurance Person of Distinction at Syracuse I-Day. Always a firm believer in continuing education and risk management, he was recently honored with an award recognizing his 40 years as a Certified Insurance Counselor. 
He was devoted to causes that improved the lives of citizens, most notably the Rescue Mission, where he served as president of its Board of Trustees, and was a member of Kiwanis.
Mr. Parsons was born in Syracuse, the son of Claire Root and John C. Parsons. Summers were spent at the family camp on Skaneateles Lake. He was educated at Deerfield Academy and Dartmouth College. After graduation, he served in the Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the 2nd AC in Bamberg, Germany, where he met his wife, Elfriede, of 54 years. In 1961 he returned to Syracuse to join his father, founder of Parsons & Associates, Inc., in the business. Today his sons, John and Robert, continue to lead the agency.
Surviving are his wife, Elfriede; sons, John C.  II (Lynda) and Robert M. (Sara); daughter, Kristin P. Thornton (Barry); and five grandchildren, John III, Bailey, Jack, Connor, Agnes and a sister Martha (Dick) Paine. Many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents John C. and Claire Parsons and sister Karen (Al) Duncker.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mercy Works, PO Box 25, Syracuse, NY 13205.
