Thomas Edgar Prindle, 94, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Syracuse Veterans Medical Center on September 28, 2023. Born in Cortland, NY to the late Lillian Thomas Prindle and V. Edgar Prindle. Thomas graduated from Solvay High School.  
    Along with his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his beloved wife Geraldine and brothers Carl and Vincent Theodore.  He is survived by his brother, William (Rita) Prindle, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Thomas worked for the circulation department for the Syracuse Post Standard then the Miami Herald  He treasured being with his family which triggered his move to Syracuse after losing his beloved wife.  His most favorite pastime was raising chinchillas.    

 The family extends their deep gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff who provided care and support throughout Tom's health challenges, in particular, the team at VA Medical Center and his personal home health aides. 
    Family and friends are invited to Thomas’s funeral services on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, 49 Jordan St. Skaneateles, NY. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery in Skaneateles, NY. 
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 76 Canton Street, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.

We sadly announce the passing of our beloved brother Thomas Michael Squires "Squeaks" on Tuesday, September 26th, at Upstate Medical Center's Community Hospital, his immediate family at his bedside.  He was 74 years old.
     Tom was a life resident of the Town of Sennett in Cayuga County.  After graduating from Skaneateles Central School he spent his early years working with his father on the family dairy farm.  He then spent the next 40-plus years as a production worker at Welch-Allyn retiring in December, 2015.
     He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Marguerite Squires.  He is survived by his brother Terry (Mary Frances), sisters Mary Dries and Barbara (Gary) Voelker; nieces Maureen Squires, Sarah (Matt) Schell, Laura (James) Sharpsteen, and Gwendolyn (Mike) Savachka; nephews Jimmy Dries, Michael Dries, Jason Voelker, and Mathew Voekler.  There are also numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.  Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially the younger ones.
     Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd, at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles, from 9:30-10:30 AM.  There will be a funeral service immediately following the calling hours at the funeral home.  For those who wish to attend, the burial will follow the funeral service at St. Mary's of the Lake Cemetery, Jordan Road, Skaneateles.
     In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's memory may be made to the Sennett Volunteer Fire Department @ 3526 Franklin Street Road, Auburn, NY 13021 or SAVES Ambulance @ 77 Fennell Street, Skaneateles, NY 13152

Ann Elizabeth Slocomb Merrill

 Ann Elizabeth Slocomb Merrill passed away peacefully on Monday, September 25th. Born in 1931 to Robert and Ann Slocomb in Rochester, NY, Ann graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Home Economics.  She worked in the food industry at S.U. for a few years then went on to teaching Home Economics in the Syracuse school system.  

Her true passion in life was horticulture and all aspects of gardening. Ann was a Master Gardener and Master Flower Show Judge, always teaching in her sweet and quiet way her knowledge of floral arrangements according to the rules of judging.  For over 50 years she exhibited and judged all over New York, including the NYS Fair.  When looking for her at home, friends and family knew to look first in her garden!  

She is an honorary member of The Onondaga Garden Club and a life member and Past President of the Skaneateles Garden Club.  She served as the Director of the Sixth District Federated Garden Clubs of NYS.  She was a member of the Alter guild at St. Pauls Cathedral, Syracuse, and at St. James Episcopal Church in Skaneateles.  She also volunteered for many years at the St. James Thrift Shop. She was a member of The Washington Cathedral, Nature Conservancy, Baltimore Woods and so many nature organizations.  

Ann enjoyed many years of European travel with her husband and members of her family.  She loved the United Kingdom for its gardens and its history. 

Predeceased by her husband, Colonel Charles H. Merrill, and brothers Robert and James. She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Arthur (Skaneateles), sister Peggy S. Hoff, Cousin Richard Slocomb and several nieces and nephews, and her granddog, Tyler. Ann Loved dogs.

    Jennifer M. Sheldon, 47 of Skaneateles passed away September 20, 2023 after fighting Ovarian Cancer.  Jenn was born February 8, 1976 in Syracuse to Michael and Lynn Dwyer of Jordan.
   Jenn Graduated from Jordan Elbridge High school class of 1994 and went on to get her associates degree from CCBI.  Jenn married at the age of 20 on September 14, 1996 to Paul Sheldon.  She joined the 
Mottville Fire company shortly after until having children.  Jenn worked at the Skaneateles High School for many years until becoming a homemaker.
     Jenn is survived by her Husband Paul, Son Austin and Daughter Sidney along with her parents Michael and Lynn Dwyer and 2 sisters Kari (David) Dwyer and Beth (Donnie) Slater along with Nephews Kaiden, Charlie ,Morgan, Mason and Niece Alice.
     Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 27th from 9:30 to 11am at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles, NY. Funeral service will be at 11am. Private burial in Lake View Cemetery.

Christina Ann Kinney

    Christina “Tina” Ann Kinney neé Murphy, 71, of Skaneateles Falls, passed away on September 13, 2023.
Tina was born on November 27, 1951 to Donald Murphy and Lois Staples in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
    After graduating with a degree in nursing, she worked as an LPN at Duke University Hospital.
Tina was married to John Kinney for 20 years.
    Tina is survived by her daughters Laurie (Benjamin) Fisher and Leslie (Rod) Henry. She has 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and her beloved chihuahua Taz.
    Private services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Virginia Beach.

Richard J. Snyder

    Richard J. Snyder, affectionately known as ‘Dick’, ‘Duke’ and ‘Sparky’, passed away September 10th, just one day after celebrating his 86th birthday.  Richard loved sharing time with friends- whether it be playing horseshoes, bowling or spending hours at his Bear Swamp camp hunting or playing Cribbage and Pitch.
    Richard grew up in Skaneateles and was a 1955 graduate of Skaneateles High School.  After graduation, he served in the army for six years and then returned to his hometown where he worked for the Village of Skaneateles Water Department for 27 years.  After retiring, he went on to work as the gardener at The Krebs, until retiring once again, with his dear friend Larry Loveless.
     In 1973, Richard married Sally Cook and together they raised their children, Mary Elizabeth and James Richard.
Richard was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Sally C Snyder.  He is survived by his children, Mary Snyder and James (Heather) Snyder and his grandchildren Ashleigh and Matthew.
     As per his wishes, a private graveside service will be held at the family’s convenience.  All are welcome to join the family to celebrate Richard at Noon on Saturday, October 14th at the Skaneateles American Legion Post 239.
      In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Skaneateles American Legion Post 239 in Richard’s honor.

Michael Anthony FitzGerald

    Michael Anthony FitzGerald, 53, of Missoula, MT, passed away on September 4, 2023, following a prolonged struggle with colon cancer. As determined in his fight with the disease as he was in his professional life, Michael defied the odds to outlive his original prognosis and win critical years with his wife, two children, family, and many friends.
    Michael was born on March 31, 1970, in Rochester, MN, to Michael and Margaret FitzGerald. He was raised in Skaneateles, NY, and attended high school at Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, RI. He graduated from Hobart College in 1993 and lived in Budapest, Hungary, before returning to the U.S. and relocating to San Francisco, where he met his future wife, Catherine Jones. Michael earned an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Montana in 2000 While in graduate school, he taught himself computer programming. He then worked as a software developer in Boise, ID, while writing a novel, Radiant Days, published in 2007.
    Following the births of their two sons, Ignatius and Eamon, the Michael and Catherine settled permanently in Missoula. In 2010, Michael and two partners founded the software company Submittable, which provides a platform for businesses, Grantmaker’s, and other organizations to accept applications and manage social impact campaigns. Michael served as Submittable’ s CEO until 2020, growing the company from a three-person startup to one employing more than 100 people, with millions of users worldwide.
    Outside of his professional life, Michael enjoyed skiing, running, writing, reading, and following the Buffalo Bills. He will be remembered not only for his remarkable professional achievements but for his fierce devotion to his family and the generous good humor he extended to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
    Michael is survived by his wife, Catherine, and their two sons, Ignatius and Eamon. He is also survived by his parents, Michael and Margaret FitzGerald; and his siblings, Megan FitzGerald, Brendan FitzGerald (Tsam Lim), Patrick FitzGerald (Jennifer FitzGerald), and Maura Blacker. He will be deeply missed by his nephews and nieces: Tristan, Lucky, Kira, Emmett, Callum, Rowan, Gavin, Fynn, Tallulah, and Willa.
    A ceremony to celebrate Michael's life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10am, at St. Mary's of the Lake in Skaneateles, NY. Following the service, a reception will be held to honor his memory. A memorial service in Missoula will be scheduled at a later date.
    In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Missoula Food Bank or the Missoula Ski Education Foundation.
    Michael would also encourage everyone to get a colonoscopy.
