 Mary A. Overbeck, 56, of Spafford, died on Saturday, August 25 at University Hospital.  She was a member of the Borodino Methodist Church, the Borodino and Spafford Ladies Auxiliary, and was an artist who enjoyed drawing.  She was pre-deceased by her father Leonard Burns Jr.
She is survived by her husband Randy; mother Patricia Burns; brothers John (Michele) and Kevin Burns; sister Linda (Mike) Trenney; niece Nicole Boring and great niece Lydia Boring.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1pm at the Borodino Fire Department with burial in the Atwater Cemetery.  Friends may greet the family from 11-1pm before the service at the fire department.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Borodino Fire Department or the Spafford Ladies Auxiliary.

Michael R. Kelly

 Michael R. Kelly, age 68, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 23, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY.  He was born April 27, 1950 in Scranton, PA to Dr. Charles M. and Gertrude Kelly.  He graduated from St. Paul’s High School in 1968 and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton in 1972.  He had a successful insurance sales career at the Bird Sumner Agency in Athens, PA and later co-founded North Branch Financial Services in Sayre, PA where he worked as a financial advisor until his retirement in 2014.  He married Margaret (Peg) West on December 29, 1973.  They raised 2 daughters, Molly and Meghan.  A proud member of the Athens, PA community for over 40 years, Michael was an active member of the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, and the Bridge of the Penn York Valley Churches.  He served as councilman of the 4th ward and president of the Professional Insurance Agents Association.
He enjoyed many years of golfing at the Shepard Hills Country Club, spending time at the Sayre Sportsmen’s Club, and upland hunting with his beloved Labradors.
In 2014, Michael moved with his wife to Skaneateles, NY where he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, boating, swimming, building bonfires and exploring their land on his Polaris.  Together he and Peg also enjoyed many new and meaningful friendships in their retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Peg; daughter, Meghan Kresge, her husband David, and grandchildren, Daniel and Beatrice; daughter, Molly Rathfon, her husband John, and grandson, Charles; brothers, C. Martin and Nancy Kelly, Jr., and Dr. Joseph T. and Amy Kelly; and many nieces, and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a family greeting, followed by a memorial mass at Saint Ann’s Church, RR 38A Owasco, NY 13021 at 11am on Saturday, September 22, 2018.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bradford County Humane Society in Ulster, PA or an animal shelter of the donor’s choice.

 Thomas A. Williams, 70, passed away on August 22nd at home in Skaneateles, NY. Tom grew up in Sherburne NY and graduated from Sherburne Central High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He then went on to graduate with his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo. In 1984 he co-founded Fahy-Williams Publishing in Geneva, NY. His most recent years were spent co-owning Mr. Pudder’s Miniature Golf and Ice Cream in Skaneateles NY.
He is survived by his 2 children Cambria E. Williams and Tommy W. Williams. As well as his 6 siblings Bill (Dawn) Williams, Ellen “Cindy” (Ron) Kelly, Edna Williams, John “Jack” Williams (Gina), Dick (Jinx) Williams, and Milli (Gene) McKee. He was pre-deceased by his parents Thomas W. and Maggie (Pierce) Williams and brother Jim Williams. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 30th from 5 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles.

Bruce Edward Porter

 Bruce Edward Porter, Dewitt Road, Skaneateles, died at home at the age of 66 on August 21, 2018.
He was born at Auburn Memorial Hospital on November 10th 1951 and lived his entire life in Niles on the family farm.
Bruce was a graduate of the agricultural program at Delhi College. He retired from the Teamster’s after driving truck for 28 years with Stott & Davis and Howards Express. He was a member of the New Hope Fire Department and the Owasco Reformed Church.
He leaves behind his four children, Gregory (Carra) of Parish, NY, Andrew (Pam) of Durham, NC, Amy Weeks (Michael) of Moravia, NY, and Douglas (Ashley) of Marcellus, NY, and two precious grandchildren Emma & George. Also survived by the mother of his children Donna Porter, Brothers Gary (Debbie), and Glenn (Karen) Porter along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Laverne and Roberta Porter.
Bruce was proud to fly the American flag having served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Bruce was a hardworking man who took pride in doing things “the right way”. He was happiest when he was farming in his fields and caring for his cows alongside of his children. He took pride in his antique Farmall tractors.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, August 27th from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28th at 10am at the Funeral Home, followed by a military honor’s at Owasco Rural Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the New Hope Fire Department or Four Town First Aid Squad, Moravia, NY.

Mary D. Shipman, 96, of Skaneateles, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 19th at The Commons on St. Anthony.  The daughter of George and Lena Duckett, she was born on April 11, 1922 in Auburn, NY.  She was a graduate of Skaneateles High School and Auburn School of Business.  Mary was predeceased by her husband, Lyle (1995) and a son.  She is survived by 5 children and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.   Private burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sennett Fire Department PO Box 1524, Auburn, NY 13021

 Karl “Charlie” Leubner, 55, of Marietta passed at home on August 19, 2018.  Charlie was a partner of Maple Lane Farms.  He lived for his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patsy; children, Andrew (Traci), Adam (Amber) and Arron; parents, Fred and Alice; siblings, Karen, Tim (Erica) and Ed (Traci); three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, August 27th at Rose Hill Baptist Church, Marietta. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 5pm on Sunday, Aug. 26th at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Burial will be in Thorn Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Borodino Fire Department. Barbara Jean Martin Rosenberg

 Barbara Jean Martin Rosenberg died peacefully at home after a long illness.  Family and friends will remember her for her beautiful smile, and her optimistic, fun-loving, and kind-hearted nature.
Barbara was born in Syracuse NY in 1927 to Harry E. Martin and Edna H. Martin of Camillus, NY.  She grew up in Camillus and graduated as the Valedictorian of her class at The Camillus School in 1945.  She graduated from Cortland State Teacher’s College (Now SUNY Cortland) in 1949.  On April 8,1950, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard J. (Dick) Rosenberg.  Barbara taught first grade for the Marcellus School district early in her marriage.  The couple had six children and raised them where Dick’s work as an engineer took them - in Fairmont NY, Lake Valhalla, NJ, Grosse Ile, MI, Loudonville, NY, and Pennington, NJ.
When Dick retired in 1988, they moved back to Central New York and settled in Skaneateles.
Barbara’s primary focus in life was her family, and she enjoyed gathering the family together for holidays. She had various hobbies including traveling, genealogy, needlepoint, piano, cards, board games, and reading.  She was a member and the historian for The Strathmore Book Club in Syracuse for many years.  She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church and, in Skaneateles, she participated in the SUMC Wednesday Morning Women’s Group for many years and she appreciated the connections she made with the women in the group, greatly.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dick.  Her Aunt, Janet Nelepovitz, survives her.   She is survived by her six children; Sara (Chuck) Odermann of Lee, Maine; Susan Rosenberg (Glenn Beran) of Skaneateles, NY, Martin (Glenn) Rosenberg of Winchester, Kentucky; Sandy (Sal) Ozkaya of Dover, NJ; Janet (Hank) Hartmann of Brunswick, OH and Stacy (Steve) McClintic of Skaneateles, NY.  She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who brought much joy to her life.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 24th from 5 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 25th  at 10am at the Skaneateles United Methodist Church. Barbara will be buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Camillus. Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of CNY or The Skaneateles United Methodist Church.

Barbara J. Vargason (Deles)

 Barbara J. Vargason (Deles) died August 13 at The Commons at St. Anthony.  She died two years and one day after Charles, her husband of 67 years, passed away.  Barbara and Charles are survived by daughter Paula (David) and son Charles R. (Natoma) and granddaughters Hannah and Audrey.  They were pre-deceased by their son Peter.
Barbara was a devoted mother, housekeeper and caregiver for many years to her mother Adelaide and her son Peter who battled MS for 15 years.  Barbara was a congregant at St. James Episcopal, taught Sunday School there, and volunteered at the Church thrift shop.  She was also known for her excellent baked goods, especially her cookies and cakes.
Barbara and her sisters Pat and Sally worked at the famous Comet Restaurant in Skaneateles which was opened by their parents Peter and Adelaide Deles. The restaurant became the Harbor House after Pat, who is now in Holland Michigan, took it over.  Sally (White) passed 10 years ago.
Services are private. Barbara will be buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Skaneateles.

Richard E. Wilson

 Richard E. Wilson, 79, of Elbridge died peacefully at the Mathew House in Auburn on Saturday, August 4, 2018 after a short illness. He was born in Auburn NY. He is the son of Edward and Carrie Wilson and has a brother James. He lived most of his adult life in Elbridge with his Wife Janet and their children. Richard served in the Air Force during the Berlin Crisis, and worked as a Maintenance Mechanic at New York State Department of Transportation for 36 years retiring in 1995. He was an active member of St. Patricks’ Church in Jordan, belonging to the Knights of Columbus. Richard volunteered as a driver for Scat Van Service and delivered meals for the Jordan Elbridge Meals on Wheels. Richard was very active; he loved the great outdoors with many activities from golfing in leagues and with friends, fishing, hunting and hiking.    
Surviving are his Wife Janet of 59 years, Sons, Greg (Susan) of Little River South Carolina, and Robert (Teresa) of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Daughter Anne Wilson Morley (Augustin) of Rochester, NY; Grandchildren, Scott (Sarah), Shawn, Sam and Katie Wilson; AJ, Jacob and Benjamin Morley; Great Grand Children Max, Eve and Katelind Wilson; his brother Jim (Dolores) Wilson,
A Mass will be held on September 1st at 10 am at St. Patricks’ Church, 28 N Main St, Jordan, NY. Much gratitude and many thanks to ALL the Nurses, and Caregivers at Mathew House that showed so much kindness and compassion.

Nancy Babbles

Nancy Babbles, 88, a former Skaneateles resident passed away August 2nd, in Lancaster, New York.
She moved to Skaneateles in 1942, with her parents Maurice and Helene Carroll. A 1948 graduate of Skaneateles High School, she worked at several local businesses, including Hahn’s Pharmacy, Tucker Hardware, the Telephone Company and for Dr. Robert Horne. She, and her husband Peter, owned and operated The Villager Real Estate Company until his passing in 1977. She was an amazing woman with many talents including wood crafting, working with stained glass, sewing and many other handicrafts. She loved everyone and always had a beautiful smile on her face.
Mrs. Babbles is predeceased by her husband, Peter G. Babbles, Jr., her parents and her two brothers Alvin and John Carroll.
Surviving are a daughter, Teresa (Milton) Valerio of Chapel Hill, NC; three sons: Mark Babbles of Naperville, IL, Peter J. (Jean) Babbles, Sr. of Skaneateles, NY, and Matthew (Mary) Babbles of Syracuse, NY; eight grandchildren: Manuel (Danielle) Valerio of Boston, MA, Joao (Lara) Valerio of Chapel Hill, NC, Gregory (Hollis) Babbles of Wilmette, IL, Kerry Babbles of Scottsdale, AZ, Peter J. (Sarah) Babbles, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Stephen Babbles of Skaneateles, NY, Alex Valerio of Boston, MA, and Kelly (Thomas) Largent of Adrian, MI; four great grandchildren: Gracyn  & Seve Valerio of North Carolina, Charlotte Babbles of Illinois and Sophie Babbles of Buffalo. She is also survived by her beloved companion, Paul Englert of Lancaster, NY. A private service will be held at a future date. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skaneateles, NY.
