Vera Lader Shappy, 101 of Skaneateles passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31st. Vera retired in 1983 from Skaneateles Central School, and was a member of Grace Chapel and the Ladies Auxiliary of Skaneateles.
She was predeceased by her daughters, Gloria (Larry) Ayers and Sylvia Clark, parents, Fred and Millicent Brewer Lader and brothers, Floyd, Harold, Don and Leslie Lader.  Vera was survived by her daughters, Sharon (John) Baron, and Cindy (Tom) Oralls; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; sisters, Frieda Stopyro, Alice Tokarz, Pauline May, and Marilyn (Buddy) Bush and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at 12pm at Grace Chapel, Skaneateles.   Private burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Chapel; 1674 US Route 20, Skaneateles, New York 13152.

William J. "Bill" Bishop

William J. Bishop (94) passed away on July 30th at Loretto. Bill was the son of Reece and Ada (Brock) Bishop of Skaneateles.  He graduated from Skaneateles High School and Central City Business School. A World War II veteran, Bill served from March of 1943 until October 1945 as a Staff Sargent in the US Army.  He retired in 1990 from Honeywell's accounting department.  His hobbies were bowling and golf and he was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Camillus, NY. 
He is predeceased by his loving wife Lena Bishop (Gouveia), his parents, brother Reece Bishop, and sisters Gertrude Dell, Mary Hale, and Gladys Margargel.  He is survived by his son Brian, daughter in law Kaci, granddaughters Kristen and Landrey, sister Lillian Rogers, brother Robert, and several nieces and nephews.  
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at 10am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, you may greet the family prior to the service from 9 to 10am. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt. Donations can be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church in lieu of flowers.

William S. Miller, 86, a longtime resident of Skaneateles, passed away on Sunday, July 28th at The Commons in Auburn, NY.
Born September 17, 1932, in Cortland, NY, to Ralph S. and Helen (Collier) Miller, Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Karlene (Barth) Miller; his daughters Janice Miller, Karen Fenner (Holden), and Linda Miller (Robert Lowry); his grandchildren, Hilary Fenner, Kelsey Fenner, Matthew Lowry, Christopher Lowry, and Hannah Lowry; his brothers, Jack Miller (Anna), and Ralph Miller; sister-in-law Marylyn Barth; a niece, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends.
Bill served stateside in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, graduated from Cortland State Teachers College and received a Master’s Degree from SUNY Oswego. An educator for 30 years, he was a physical education teacher, a coach, and a guidance counselor in the West Genesee Central School District. In retirement, he volunteered countless hours for various organizations in the community, including service for over 30 years with local food pantries, and was an active member and volunteer with the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society. Bill was an excellent high school athlete, an accomplished bowler, and a member of the horseshoe league in Skaneateles for 50 years.  He was open-minded and curious, an avid reader and enjoyed international travel with Karlene. Bill loved Skaneateles Lake. Beginning in his childhood in the 1930s, he spent every summer on Skaneateles Lake and was a dedicated lifelong steward of the lake. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who made life joyful for others. His great sense of humor, generosity, caring, and unwavering kindness will be missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours are Thursday, August 1st from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, August, 2nd, at the funeral home. Anne Marie McCormick

Anne Marie Metz McCormick, 85, passed away on July 25th 2019 at her home in Skaneateles, NY, surrounded by her family. Anne loved life and drew many people to this area for short and long visits. She enjoyed sharing her home’s view of Skaneateles Lake with neighbors, friends, former colleagues and family. Sharp of mind and wit, she will be missed by her dear friends, including The Mahjong Ladies and the ICE Cubes.
Ann was born on February 20th 1934 in Newark, NJ, to Johannes Metz and Margaret Mary Munch. Anne grew up in Fayetteville, NY, and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1952. After high school, she attended Cortland State Teachers College where she received a degree in Elementary Education in 1957.
            Her first elementary classroom was in San Leandro, California. She subsequently taught in elementary schools in New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Connecticut. She retired in 1999 after teaching several years in Danbury, CT.
            Anne married James Breese McCormick in 1958 in Fayetteville, NY. They were happily married for 40 years and raised four sons together.
Ever the organizer, Anne founded the Dearborn Heights, MI, Newcomers Club and more recently was a founding member and President of the Association of Annual Ham Festivals and an active member of Fayetteville High School Alumni Association. 
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents Johann and Margaret Metz; mother, Louise Hamann Metz; and brother, Richard Metz.
Anne is survived by her sons Terence McCormick (Margaret Thill) of Alexandria, VA; Timothy (Cheryl) McCormick of Grand Ledge, MI; Theodore McCormick (Julianna Babics) of Raleigh, NC; Thomas (Carolyn) McCormick of Wilmington, NC; her grandchildren Brian (Rachael) McCormick, Kathleen (Alan) Foster, Shannon (Michael) Vickery, Christeen McCormick, Lorent McCormick. Ann is also survived by the grandchildren Sean McCormick, James McCormick, Luke McCormick and their mother LuAnn Garvey Nulsen. Additionally, Ann is survived by her three great-grandchildren and fifteen nieces and nephews and her sister Marguerite Halaburt of Ft. Worth, TX.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Ann’s Church, RR 38A, Owasco, NY 13021, at 12:30 p.m. on July 30th. The family will be greeting friends and relatives prior to the service at 11:30 a.m. A private burial will be held at a later date in Dewitt, NY.

Joshua M. McIntyre, 18, of Owasco, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 18th.  Josh recently graduated from Skaneateles High School where he played football. He worked on Richards Farm and was enrolled in Alfred State College.
Josh was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed working and loved hanging with family and friends.  His heart of gold and bigger than life personality will be missed by all.
Josh is predeceased by his aunt, Kim.  He is survived by his loving parents, Joseph and Tammy; his big brother, Joey (Brianna); grandparents, Charlie and Lorrie Gleason of Skaneateles; aunts, Marianne Rogers of Arkansas, Marylouise Daniels of Syracuse, Theresa (Alfred) Bidwell; uncle, Jay Gleason of Skaneateles, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 23rd at Owasco Reformed Church, 5105 State Rte 38A, Owasco, NY 13021.  Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8pm on Monday, July 22nd at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles.  Burial will be in Owasco Cemetery.

John E. Sheppard, 77, of Owasco, passed away surround by his loving family on July 14th after a long battle with Crohn’s Disease and its many complications. John was a Vietnam Veteran and was employed for 32 years as a New York State Corrections officer at Auburn Prison. An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and keeping a garden. John was a member of the NRA, the local VFW, the Skaneateles Rod and Gun Club, and he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Auburn.
Above all, John loved his family. He is survived by wife Bonnie of 52 years, daughters Lisa (Steve) and Wendy (Chris), along with four grandchildren, Alyssa and Racheal (Morris) and Hailey and Wyatt (Fish). John is also survived by a brother Bill Sheppard, of Niles, several cousins, nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his brother George and parents Amy and George Sheppard. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn on Friday, July 19th at 11am. John will be buried in Soule Cemetery, Sennett. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army, 18 E. Genesee Street, Auburn.

Peter Wagner Walton

Peter Wagner Walton, 81, a longtime resident of Skaneateles, NY passed away on Sunday, July 14th at Loretto dementia care unit in Syracuse, NY. He was born in Auburn, NY to David T. Walton Sr. and Aurelle Wagner Walton.  Peter grew up in Skaneateles Falls and Skaneateles as the oldest of what would become 10 siblings. He retired from a long career as an independent sales associate in the toy and juvenile product industry.  Peter loved cooking, gardening and antiques, was an avid reader who lived selflessly, always compassionate to those in need.  He was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake in Skaneateles, NY where he was married 55 years ago. Peter is survived by his wife, Carol Walton of Skaneateles and his two children, Jennifer Walton (Jimmy McInerney) of Skaneateles and Philip Walton (Kim) of Winchester, MA and his four beloved grandchildren James McInerney and Benjamin McInerney of Skaneateles, Philip Walton and Matthew Walton of Winchester, MA. He is also survived by five sisters and three brothers: John Walton (Sue) of Cato, NY , Mary Sullivan of Skaneateles, Elizabeth Zebley (Barry) of Sherrill, NY, Anna Walton of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Aurelle Rath (Jerry) of Skaneateles, Linus Walton (Kathleen) of Skaneateles, Frank Walton (Debbie) of Carlisle, IL, and Sheila Walton (Moshe Toledo) of Los Angeles, CA and many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his parents and two brothers David Walton Jr. and Paul Bart Walton. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at 10am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Skaneateles. Peter will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skaneateles. There will be a reception to follow to greet the family.

Elizabeth Davis Boudreau

Elizabeth Davis Boudreau, 91, formerly of Skaneateles, NY passed away surrounded by family on July 13th.  Beth was born in Geneva, Illinois to Ralph Waldo Davis and Geraldine W Davis on May 19, 1928.  After she attained Valedictorian at Sullins High School in 1946, she married Dr. Robert Page Boudreau on July 2, 1947.  For the following fifteen years during Bob’s residency and Fellowships they moved to North Carolina, Boston, Philadelphia, London, Sweden, Baltimore, and finally returned to Bob’s hometown, Syracuse, in 1962 settling in DeWitt. In 1964 they built a house on Skaneateles Lake, where they moved permanently in 1970.  
While raising six children Beth was always ready to contribute to the needs of local charities Meals-On-Wheels, Friends in Service Here (FISH), Unity Acres, and Unity Kitchen, where she and Bob helped prepare meals every Monday in Bob’s retirement.
Passionate about opera and other classical music, Beth co-founded, with the collaboration of close friends Lindsay Grove and Louise Robinson, the Skaneateles Chamber Music Festival in 1979, originally held on the second floor of the library.  Today, the Skaneateles Festival is an international music festival bringing world-class music to Skaneateles Lake.  Beth served as the first President and was instrumental in obtaining designation with the New York State Council for The Arts (NYSCA) that allowed the Festival to grow to what it is today.
Beautiful, elegant, brilliant, and compassionate, Beth was loved by all who knew her. She was extremely well read and a voracious reader and an avid gardener, who surrounded her home on the lake with breathtaking flower gardens. Most of all she was a warm, kind and generous person who opened her home and her heart to many travelers, musicians, friends and family, who will carry strains of Beth in themselves.
Beth is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Bob, her brother Scott Davis, brother-in-law, Donald Boudreau, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Liz) Fagan Boudreau.
Beth is survived by her six children; Elizabeth S., Robert (Alison Gilles), Edward (Zui Hui), Thomas, Kathleen (Jack Joyce), Michael (Julie Stafford), seven grandchildren; Eleanor, Paul, Julia Martin, Ian Joyce, Dylan Joyce, Emily, Hannah, two great grandchildren; Abigail and Robert Martin, and sister-in-law Betty Jane Boudreau.
            Calling hours will be held at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles on Wednesday from 4 to 7PM.  A mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at St Mary’s of the Lake Church, 81 Jordan St., Skaneateles on Thursday beginning at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Skaneateles Festival and Unity Kitchen.

Stephen Noel Titus Driscoll

Stephen Noel Titus Driscoll, 65, of Auburn, N.Y. went to be with his Lord on June 7, 2019, after a heroic battle with cancer. Steve was the epitome of a fighter. He never accepted the defeat to any challenge he encountered and encouraged people give up in the face of adversity and forge ahead. When most people would give up, Steve persevered with tenacity and never coward to another round of treatment.
Steve graduated with Honors from Arizona State University and received a B.S.E in Construction Engineering. Steve was the guiding leader of Charles T. Driscoll Masonry Restoration Co., Inc. in Skaneateles Falls, N.Y.  He expanded his father’s business and became a primary contributor in the masonry restoration and waterproofing field.  In addition to his duties at his work, Steve served as a masonry restoration consultant and advisor. His achievements included Restore – Columbia University, Associate of American Institute of Contractors, Member of International Concrete Repair Institute, Golden Key National Honor Society, Sigma Lambda Chi National Construction Honor Society and Beaver’s Charity Trust Scholarship.
Steve played an active role in the St. James’ Episcopal Church Community located in Skaneateles, NY. Within the church he served as an usher and acolyte. 
Steve is predeceased by his parents Shirly Titus Driscoll and Charles Thurston Driscoll Sr. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Denise Bishop Driscoll, his children; Michael Hoyt Driscoll, Gideon Charles (Heather Edmunds) Driscoll, and Katherine Grace Bishop (Taylor Kraetz) Driscoll; siblings, Charles Thurston (Kimberly) Driscoll Jr., Patricia Anne (Gary Blose) Driscoll, and Nancy Driscoll (Glenn) Stewart and several nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 12th from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 10am at St. James Episcopal Church, Skaneateles. Stephen will be buried in Lake View Cemetery.

Kay Patricia Hutchins

Kay Patricia Hutchins, 77, of Ocala, Florida passed away on July 1, 2019 at the Hospice of Marion County – Legacy House. She was born on April 20, 1942 in Watertown, New York to the late Ross and Charlotte (Hamilton) Charlton of Canada. Kay was an accountant for 32 years at the Research Foundation of the State University of New York. Kay was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, card games, collecting porcelain birds, card making, creating beaded jewelry, and traveling with her husband Richard. Predeceased by her son, Richard C. Hutchins Jr., sister Elizabeth Dietrich, and sister Irene Majo. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard C. Hutchins, Sr. of Ocala, Florida, her daughter, Deborah (Jeffery) Staples of Victor, New York, her brother, Edward (Elaine) Charlton of Evans Mills, New York, her grandchildren Michael (Lindsey) Wegner, Andrew Wegner, Mathew Staples, and Elizabeth (Richard) Lynch, in addition to her several nieces and nephews.
Kay’s family greatly appreciates all of the thoughts, prayers, cards and acts of kindness they have received over the past three months.
The family will celebrate her life with a service at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles on Saturday, August 10 at 10:30am. Kay will be buried with her son Rick in the Lake View Cemetery in Skaneateles, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Kay can be made to the Hospice of Marion County – Legacy House, 9505 SW 110th Street, Ocala, Florida 34481.
