Daniel R. "Ray" Slater

 Daniel R. “Ray” Slater, 78, of Skaneateles died at Francis House on Saturday, June 30.  Born in Syracuse, he lived his adult life in Skaneateles with his Wife Esther and their children.  Ray served in the Marine Corp during peace time, and then worked at and was disabled from General Crush Stone in Jamesville, NY. He was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Skaneateles Rod & Gun Club, and spent his free time shooting competitive trap in several local leagues, coaching young trap shooters and following his grandchildren’s activities. In 2017, he won the Sr. Vet Runner up at the Grand American in Sparta Illinois.
Surviving are his Daughter, Elaine (Mark) Kogler; Son, Dean (Leslie) Slater; Grandchildren, Kaylyn, Justin and Madeline Slater; his brother Dennis, several half-brothers, half-sisters, several step-brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, and his Sisters and Brothers in-law.
Ray was predeceased by his Wife Esther and their Son, Alan J. Slater; his Parents Daniel Slater and Catherine Avery and his Sister Martha Wheeler.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 27th at 10 am at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Jordan Road, Mottville. Burial at Shepards Settlement Cemetery immediately following service.
Much gratitude and many thanks to ALL of the Nurses and Doctors at Upstate Medical and to the Caregivers at Francis House that showed so much kindness and compassion.

Charles John Rogalia Sr.

​Charles John Rogalia, Sr. Died after a very long illness at St.Camillus Nursing Home on June 20th.  Charlie was born on January 10, 1940.  He was the oldest of eight children of Sigmund Rogalia and Stella (Lescenski) Rogalia his beloved mother.  Charlie is survived by his wife Liz of 55 years, 2 children Deborah Brown (Michael) and Charles Jr. (Kathleen) 5 grandchildren, Rusty, Ashleigh, Charlie,Connor, and Hannah and several nieces and nephews.  At St. Camillus he was president of the resident council and participated in many activities St. Camillus had to offer residents and he liven things up.  He will be missed by many residents and staff.  He retired from Onondaga Transportation Department after many years of service.  He was born and raised in the Howlett Hill area in Syracuse and lived in the hills above Skaneateles Lake for 42 years on his small farm where he raised sheep and chickens. Charlie was truly an outdoorsman. He enjoyed gardening, cutting and stacking wood and taking care of animals. But, most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Charlie especially enjoyed family holiday dinners and summer picnics at   Grandpa’s farm.  There will be a private graveside service at Charlie’s request.

Frank E. Gregory

 Frank E. Gregory, 73, of Camillus, died peacefully Thursday, June 14th at his home.  He was born in Montclair, NJ, and attended school in East Orange, NJ.   Frank was a union sheet metal worker in NJ and NY, ultimately receiving his 40-year pin.  Frank married Mary B. Carbacio in 1994, and they shared 18 happy years of profound love.  Mary preceded him in death in 2012.  Frank was employed at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Skaneateles, NY, where he was responsible for property maintenance and assisted in pastoral services.  He was a volunteer at Upstate/Community Hospital for several years and an active member at St. Joseph’s parish in Camillus also volunteering his services.  Frank had the gift of touching the hearts of all with whom he came in contact through his gifts of his wit and wisdom.  He was a truly genuine, compassionate, spiritual and fun-loving person.  He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his parents, Robert and Florence, and his brothers, Robert and John. 
Surviving are his sister, Mary Ann Fuchs, his sisters-in-law, Janice and Vicki, his brothers-in-law, David and Jim Carbacio, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of loving friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 17th from 3 to 5pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 18th at 10am at St. Mary of the Lake Church, Skaneateles.

Caleb D. Hudgins

 Caleb D. Hudgins, 30, of Auburn left this world suddenly, yet peacefully on June 9th.  Born and raised in CNY he enjoyed fishing, music, coffee, long drives and wood working.  He learned metal fabrication from his grandfather and took theses skills into his career in HVAC.  He cherished the time he spent doing work he loved, including his role in the construction of the Golisano Children’ Hospital.  His generosity, intelligence and sense of humor will be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his loving family; mother, Theresa Hudgins of Auburn, father, Douglas Hudgins of Skaneateles, sisters, Amanda (Eric) MacLachlan of Manlius and Alexandria Hudgins of Throop.  He will forever be missed by his niece, Makayla and nephews, Mason and Benjamin and his adoring dog Apollo.
Friends and family may call on Friday, June 15th from 4 to 7pm at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles.

Richard Momberger

 Richard Momberger, 83, of Skaneateles, passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital on Wednesday June 6th after a brief illness. Richard was born May 25, 1935 in Albany, NY to the late George C. and Emma (Fahd) Momberger. He was married to his college sweetheart, Roberta (Britain), for 60 years.
Richard was a 1953 graduate of Albany High School, and a 1957 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he studied electrical engineering and became a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He served as a 1st lieutenant and technical instructor in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a captain in 1970. He also attended Rochester Institute of Technology, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and received his Master’s Degree in engineering. After college, Richard worked as an electrical engineer designing television picture tubes and earned some patents for his work. He retired from Phillips in 1991.
Richard enjoyed being with his family and working on his house and yard. He was a longtime member of the Skaneateles Country Club. Some of his hobbies included having a kennel and showing his West Highland White Terriers, boating and fishing, bowling and golf. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to Ft. Myers, Florida for the winter.
Survivors are his wife, Roberta (Britain) Momberger; daughter, Sheri Flanigan, and her husband Paul; daughter, Kristen Britain; two grandchildren, Amie and James Flanigan; his brother, Terry Momberger (Marge); a sister in law, Elaine Momberger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, George Momberger (Elaine).
There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service held on Thursday, June 21st with a visitation hour held at 10am, and the service commencing at 11am at the Skaneateles United Methodist Church, Skaneateles.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the CNY SPCA or the Skaneateles United Methodist Church.
