Judith C. Sheridan

    Judith C. Sheridan, 74, of Skaneateles Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 19th at the Commons at St. Anthony in Auburn, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Binghamton, NY on March 9, 1949 and moved to Owasco in her early years, graduating from Auburn High School and Buffalo State College. 
    She met and married the love of her life, David (Corky) Sheridan on June 12, 1971.  Judy taught art at Weedsport Central School District for many of her 35 years and was very proud coaching Odyssey of the Mind while bonding with her students.  She was a national, award winning, published quilter, accumulating numerous accolades and awards over the years.
    In addition to her loving husband of 52 years, Judy is also survived by daughters Karen Sheridan and Carol Oakley, son Brian (Tracy) Sheridan, grandchildren Terra (Ezekiel Sliwka) and Gerald Sheridan, Alyssa Faulkner, Jamie and Thomas Sheridan.  She was predeceased by granddaughter Katherine Sheridan.  Also survived by sisters-in-law Mary Sheridan and Nancy Sheridan, brother-in-law Mark (Colleen) Sheridan, her special Aunt, Jane Porten and many nieces and nephews.
    Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. A funeral mass will be on Thursday at 10am at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Schweinfurth Art Center, 205 Genesee Street Auburn, NY 13021.

David W. Larrison, who loved his family dearly, practiced as a labor relations lawyer for 50 years, and treasured the beauty of the Finger Lakes passed away peaceably at his home in Skaneateles on August 19, 2023.
    Born March 28, 1942 in Geneva, NY to Kenneth Larrison and Ann Hovey Larrison, he graduated from Manlius Military School in 1960, Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1964, and Georgetown University Law School in 1967.
    He started his career at the National Labor Relations Board in Washington DC before moving back to Syracuse, NY to work at Hancock Estabrook Law Firm where he became a partner. He finished his career as a founding partner at Ferrara, Fiorenz, Larrison, Barrett & Reitz, PC.
    He is pre-deceased by his parents and brother Hovey Larrison and sister Linda Goodman.
    He is survived by his wife of 59 years Joyce Rollo Larrison, sons Christopher (wife Tara Earls Larrison) and Timothy Larrison (wife Kitty Ilana Neumark) and grandchildren Max, Claudia, Annabel, and Nicholas.
    Funeral services will be held at St Mary’s of the Lake on Saturday, September 16th at 10am. 
    In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Skaneateles Lake Association or the Borodino Fire Department.

Kathleen Kortright Johnson

Kathleen Kortright Johnson passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023.
She was the daughter of Mary Henessey Kortright and Donald Joseph “Pete” Kortright of Skaneateles, New York.

Kathleen was a graduate of Skaneateles High School.
Following High School, she attended Powelson Business Institute in Syracuse.
In 1963, she married the love of her life, William “Shadow”Johnson. Kathleen was a lifelong member of Saint Mary’s of the Lake Church. Her strong faith is what got her through the most difficult times. Kathleen embodied what it truly means to be a kind person. Always extending a helping hand, no matter what was going on in her life. Showing the kind of character she had.

She was a member of the Skaneateles Country Club; was an active volunteer in the Skaneateles Community, and held various retail positions in the village, retiring from The Bookie.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter Lisa, beloved grandchildren Allison and Kathleen “KC” Clark, her brothers and sisters; Mary Keough, Patricia Eisenberg, Peter Kortright and Mark (Nancy) Kortright; several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Special also to Kathleen, was the Murphy Family- Steve, Cindy and Ava. Predeceasing Kathleen were her parents, Pete and Mary Kortright, as well as her husband William C. Johnson, a son William M. “Billy” Johnson brothers, William R. and Michael S. Bass, and a sister, Bonnie A. Littlefield.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd at 10am  at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Skaneateles. Private burial in St. Mary's.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sarah’s Guest House 100 Roberts Avenue  , Syracuse, New York 13207.

Judith (Judy) Moore McGinn

Judith (Judy) Moore McGinn passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at her home in Skaneateles, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on April 20, 1951 in Erwin, North Carolina, Judy spent her early years on the family farm in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The family later moved to Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C. Judy graduated from school for court reporting. She began her career in several county and federal locations before taking a position as a court reporter for the United States House of Representatives. Judy met her husband, Michael, at this time.
In 1984 Judy and Michael began their great adventure. They took ownership of Mallow Castle in Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, and operated it as a resort for the rich and famous for almost twenty years. While in Ireland Judy attended University College Cork, receiving a Bachelor's of Arts of English Literature.
Retiring to Skaneateles in 2004, Judy spent the last twenty years as a writer. She wrote for various local publications, and her work appeared in several anthologies. Judy’s first book of short stories, Rising Up on Ordinary Days, was published recently. She lived as an activist for women’s rights, social justice, and the environment.
Judy is predeceased by her husband, Michael McGinn, and five of her siblings.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Brendan McGinn (Kali Planty, significant other), and grandsons, Conor and Michael of Liverpool, and Seamus McGinn (Rowena), currently serving as Petty Officer First Class for the U.S. Navy stationed in Guam. She is also survived by a sister, Barbara Mobley of Skaneateles, numerous close relatives in Joppa, Maryland and Japan.
A Celebration of Life  will be held on Wednesday, August 16th from 12n to 2pm at the Sherwood Inn , West Genesee Street, Skaneateles. 
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the National League of American Pen Women in Washington D.C.

Veronica K. Tokarz

     Veronica K. Tokarz, 104, of Skaneateles passed away August 8th at Finger Lakes Center. She was predeceased by her husband of 76 years Frank P. Tokarz in 2013.
    She was a communicate at St. Mary's of The Lake Church for 80 plus years. She volunteered at Stella Maris Retreat House and also worked at Kreb's and Talbots 5&10 for a number of years.
    Veronica loved to sew and knit and was involved in many church functions. She also loved to travel both domestically and internationally. She had the opportunity to visit the Holy Land and met Pope John Paul II. She also loved to visit her daughter Nancy's classrooms and discuss her travels with the students.
    She is survived by a daughter Nancy M. Tokarz of Auburn, a son Daniel F (Lillian) of Syracuse, two grandsons Paul of Syracuse, and David of Phoenix NY, great grandchildren Brooke Tokarz and Morgan O'Tier along with several godchildren.
    A funeral mass will be offered at 10am on Wednesday, August 16th at St. Mary's of The Lake Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery with a reception to follow.

Frieda C. Stopyro (Lader)

    Frieda C. Stopyro (Lader) passed peacefully on August 2, 2023, in the comfort of her Marcellus home of 79 years. Born on Christmas, December 25, 1922, at the family home in Spafford, NY. She was married to the love of her life, Stanley Stopyro for 62 years, who predeceased her in 2006.
    Survived by son, Stanley Jr of Marcellus, Jeanne of Lake Placid & special niece Donna Fellows of Syracuse, sisters Marilyn Bush & Pauline May, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
    Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 7th from 10 to 11am followed by mass at 11, burial in St. Francis Cemetery with a brunch at St. Francis Xavier church in Marcellus.
    Donations in her memory can be made to Spafford Historical Society, Finger Lakes Land Trust or ECHO Meals on Wheels.
