He was born at Auburn Memorial Hospital on November 10th 1951 and lived his entire life in Niles on the family farm.
Bruce was a graduate of the agricultural program at Delhi College. He retired from the Teamster’s after driving truck for 28 years with Stott & Davis and Howards Express. He was a member of the New Hope Fire Department and the Owasco Reformed Church.
He leaves behind his four children, Gregory (Carra) of Parish, NY, Andrew (Pam) of Durham, NC, Amy Weeks (Michael) of Moravia, NY, and Douglas (Ashley) of Marcellus, NY, and two precious grandchildren Emma & George. Also survived by the mother of his children Donna Porter, Brothers Gary (Debbie), and Glenn (Karen) Porter along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Laverne and Roberta Porter.
Bruce was proud to fly the American flag having served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Bruce was a hardworking man who took pride in doing things “the right way”. He was happiest when he was farming in his fields and caring for his cows alongside of his children. He took pride in his antique Farmall tractors.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, August 27th from 4 to 7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28th at 10am at the Funeral Home, followed by a military honor’s at Owasco Rural Cemetery.
