Shirley Leader Weldon

Shirley Leader Weldon, 91, of Auburn passed away February 24, 2017 at Auburn Community Hospital. Shirley was born October 30, 1925 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Glenn and Mary Fehlmann Leader. She graduated from Skaneateles High School and the Auburn City Hospital School of Nursing. Shirley worked as a Registered Nurse at various facilities, including Auburn Memorial Hospital.
In retirement Shirley enjoyed volunteering, playing golf, bowling, gardening, nature and cheering for the New York Mets and the Syracuse University basketball teams.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Glenn, Donald, Bruce and Warren Leader and a sister Virginia Leader.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Weldon of Arlington, Virginia, her sister Mary L. Hoxie of Marietta, NY, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 2nd at 11am with a calling hour starting at 10 at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Shirley will be buried in Lake View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary Food Pantry 90 Franklin Street, Auburn, NY 13021 or Matthews House Inc. 43 Metcalf Drive, Auburn, NY 13021.

I enjoyed working/laughing with Shirley soooo many years ago when we both worked at Auburn Hospital--Rest well !! ❤

Shirley was a great nurse. She was fun to work with and I learned alot from her. My sympathy to you all.

Shirley was a wonderful person. She provided me with a ride to bowling and was a great team mate, too.

It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love; and when it happens , the thought of never again being able to talk to, laugh with, or hold your love one can be most difficult to bear. That pain is not necessarily erased by being told that your love one is up in heaven. The bible, holds a out a much different hope. At Job 14:14,15, it says that the God of comfort Jehovah, yearns to bring back those who are in his memory and to see them alive on earth. I really hope this thought brings family and friends comfort.
