Robert D. Gray, Jr.

Picture
On Tuesday, January 26th, Bob Gray, finished his final round of golf and entered God’s great Club House.  He played strong and courageous right through the final 18th hole. It was the best round of golf he ever played.  Bob’s great golf game started in Mottville, where he was born, and finished in Skaneateles, where Bob lived, loved and served.  Bob’s zest for life showed in his service to the community, dedication to his career, and his love for his family. He served from 1970-76 in the US Army Reserves and subsequently joined the Valentine Meyer Post 317 and the Robert Haydon Post 239.  He was an honorary member of the Skaneateles Fire Department, a life member of the Mons. Meany Knights of Columbus Council, and was past president and 25 year board member of the Lake View Cemetery Board.  He was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church.
The career path Bob chose was well suited to his patience, gentlemanly nature, and his true sense of compassion.  He graduated from Simmons School of Embalming in 1968 and served on the Military Honor Guard in the Reserves while he worked as a funeral director in Skaneateles.  He established the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home in 1975 and the Gray House Bed & Breakfast in 1990.  He was a member and past president of the Onondaga-Oswego Funeral Directors Association.
Life was full for Bob; he played in the Joe Curtis Softball League well into his 60's, he enjoyed meeting the guys at the Wednesday Night bowling league in Marcellus, playing cards in the Amber Pitch League, walking down to breakfast at Johnny’s with the guys from Table 6; traveling with his family to many parts of the country and to Ireland and Scotland, and played golf with friends and family.  The game of golf gave Bob time to spend with his son, son-in-law, grandson, daughters and friends.  Family was central to all that Bob did in his life; and the focal point for the past 45 years was his wife Val.  Together they raised a family, operated a business and traveled extensively.
Their family includes 2 daughters: Pamela (Gary) Anastasio, Kristin Gray; son Rob (Leanne); his mother Mary Gray; his brother Thomas (Kathy); his sisters: Mary Ann (Rick) Barletta, Pat (Ted) Corwin, Joanne (Eric) Tills; grandchildren: Tyler & Laura Anastasio, Robby IV, Matthew, Connor; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by
his father Robert D. Gray Sr. in 1992.
The Gray family greatly appreciates all of the thoughts, prayers, cards and acts of kindness they have received over the
past 19 months.
The funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10am in St. Mary’s of the Lake Church.  Private burial will be in
St. Mary’s Cemetery, Skaneateles.
Calling hours are Friday from 2-8pm at Bob’s funeral home,
49 Jordan Street, Skaneateles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fr. Peter Major Mill Hill Missionaries - African Missions, c/o Mill Hill House 222 W. Hartsdale Avenue, Hartsdale, NY 10530-1667,  or Cancer Connects, 5008 Brittonfield Parkway, Suite 800,
East Syracuse 13057.
Online condolences can be sent to www.robertdgrayfuneralhome.com.

Val and family - I am so sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. I don't even have words to express how sad I am for you and his loved ones. You brought us so much comfort when mom passed and I hope you feel that same love from your friends and family now as they help you through this time. He was one of the kindest and most loving people I had the pleasure of knowing. Excuse the long post but the poem The Rose Still Grows Beyond the Wall by A.L. Frink always brings me comfort when I lose someone I love. I won't repost the whole thing here but just remember that . . . the rose still grows beyond the wall. Scattering fragrance far and wide
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will for evermore.

I am very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was wonderful to me and my family when both my mom and dad died. When he and Val moved to Skaneateles, they were wonderful neighbors to my gramma-Missy Brice- and later bought her house. The saved much of our family history in the Brice house and we will be forever grateful.
I know he will be missed by all he touched.

Robbie, Gary and the entire Gray family my thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this most difficult time. I have very fond memories of playing softball with Bob and the "good old" group from that area. A true gentleman and a friend to all. He will surely leave a void that will take mighty big shoes to fill.

Skaneateles will never. Be the same without Bob, he always had time to speak to you and share a joke two and just be Bob. Everyone knows what I mean by that. It feels like I have lost a family member Bob laid down my grandmother, my grandfather, my father, and my mother. And he made everything go without a hitch he was an amazing and feeling person. He will be missed as a good friend and a great man.

I bowled with Bob for many years on the Wednesday Men's League in Marcellus. He was always fun to be around. Several friends and family members were taken care of by Bob. I was always hoping he would be around to take care of me as well. Alas, his work is done. May he rest in peace...

Bob was very kind to our family with each of our losses. When my mother died, my young sons commented that they had thought funerals were supposed to be sad affairs but what they had observed was joy and laughter. May you all experience joy and laughter when celebrating Bob's life and memory.

Dearest Gray Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I send my deepest condolences to your family. Bob was one of the finest, most respected and most honorable men that I have met in my lifetime. When our family needed compassion during the loss of my husband, Scott, Bob was compassionate. When our family needed strength, Bob was strong for us. When our family needed guidance and direction, Bob was there for us with his grace and assurance when we truly needed him most. Val, I am sorry that you have the "tall chair". I truly am. May your family find comfort and love in one another while sharing the treasured memories of Bob during the difficult moments that are yet to come. May peace and love surround you and carry you all through this difficult time. With Love and Appreciation, Patience Clarry, Devon and Colin

Dear Val and family,

I was so very sorry to hear about Bobbie passing away. His obituary was one of the best tributes I have ever read. Whoever composed it truly captured his love of family and his compassionate spirit.

Bobbie has left a legacy that spans several generations of Gray's. I'll never forget the time a few years ago that he drove a group of us Gray cousins to the Valentine Meyer American Legion Post in Skaneateles Falls, so we could see our fathers' and grandfathers' pictures on the walls of the post. We talked about the sacrifices they made and how that impacted us as we grew up in the Gray family.

Seeing all the sincere comments here shows how so many people loved and respected Bobbie. I am praying that healing will touch your family's hearts in this time of grief as you read these messages of support and sympathy.

I TESTED POSITIVE FOR HSV-2 A FEW MONTHS AGO.
At first, Yes, I was devastated thinking I have an incurable STD for life. After doing hours of research I quickly realized genital herpes is a filthy parasite that just likes to hide in your body. Yes, There’s no “medical cure” but that doesn’t mean your body can’t get rid of it. I literally flush it out of my system with the help of Doctor Azuka, A natural herbal medicine which I ordered after doing some research. And now I’m HSV-2 negative, I never believed it until my doctor finally gave me the test results and behold I was HSV-2 free. I’m so glad that I found you, Doctor Azuka. Thanks so much for your goodness I’m grateful. You can also get your help from him through his

Good day My lover friends, I'm here to share my experience to everybody all around the world because I know that someone out there needs this today. I've been with my boyfriend for 7 years and everything was fine with us that we
don't have to fight or quarrel for anything . My Boyfriend got a new job and after 6 months of his new job, I noticed some changes in his. Few weeks before my birthday, my Boyfriend broke up with me for another lady. I never expected such from his. I was in severe pain and needed help urgently. I searched for help online and found DR John Soco, who is a spell caster. I told him everything I was going through and he understood me well. He told me that his will prepare a love spell for me that will get my Boyfriend back within 48 hours and he explained to me how it was going to be done and I agreed. He prepared the love spell for me and my Boyfriend returned back to me begging me for forgiveness within 48 hours. I was shocked and happy and I accepted his back.. We are back together and everything is going fine. I want to thank Dr John Soco for his help by sharing this testimony online for other people to find help too in any area of their lives. Get in touch with him with the below details. For he's good at what he does.

My ex-husband and I had always managed to stay friendly after our divorce in February 2017. But I always wanted to get back together with him, All it took was a visit to this spell casters website last December, because my dream was to start a new year with my husband, and live happily with him.. This spell caster requested a specific love spell for me and my husband, and I accepted it. And this powerful spell caster began to work his magic. And 48 hours after this spell caster worked for me, my husband called me back for us to be together again, and he was remorseful for all his wrong deeds. My spell is working because guess what: My “husband” is back and we are making preparations on how to go to court and withdraw our divorce papers ASAP. This is nothing short of a miracle. Thank you Dr Emu for your powerful spells. Words are not enough.

I am sharing this testimony to partners suffering in their relationships because there is an enduring solution. My husband left me and our 1 kids for another woman for 6 years. I tried to be strong just for my kids but I could not control the pains that torment my heart. I was hurt and confused. I needed a help, so i did a research on the internet and came across a site where I saw that DR.JOHN SOCO a great spell caster from USA can help get lovers back with natural spell the Zodiac sign. I contacted him and he did a special prayer and spells for me. To my surprises, after 24 hours, my husband came back home. That was how we reunited again and there was a lot of love, joy and peace in the family. You can as well contact DR. JOHN SOCO from any part of the world, a powerful spell-caster for solutions on his contact below.
