Born on April 25, 1932 to Robert and Katharine (O’Brien) Williams in Syracuse, NY she was a graduate of The Convent School, St. Joseph’s College in Emmitsburg MD and Catholic University in Washington, DC. One fateful summer, Mary Louise met a new neighbor at her parent’s camp on Skaneateles Lake, Dr. Stewart L. Thompson. They began a courtship that ended in their marriage on April 24, 1970.
As a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Parish, Mrs. Thompson served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the RCIA team for 10 years. She also volunteered for many years at the Stella Maris Retreat House. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Syracuse Rotary Club with her husband.
Mrs. Thompson was predeceased by her husband Dr. Stewart L. Thompson and is survived by her son Peter and his wife, Kim, their children Maeve, Colin, Molly, and William of Syracuse, NY, stepchildren, Paula Moore and her husband Roy of Loudon TN, Mark Thompson and wife Linda of Bristol, CT, Stewart Thompson of Loudon, TN and David Thompson and wife Debbie of Glendale, AZ, as well as their children and grandchildren.
She is also survived by her niece Kathy Gentile and husband Michael of Endicott, NY, her nephew Robert Scott and his wife Sue of Clay, NY and her nephew Timothy Scott and wife Nancy of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, and their children and grandchildren, first cousins, Lawrence Ryan and wife Ann of New Jersey, their children and grandchildren, and Margaret Ryan of Syracuse, NY.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 7th from 1-3 pm at the Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 8th at 10AM at St. Charles Church, Syracuse, NY.
