Dr. Robert J. Vitkus, DDS, 67, died peacefully at his home in Fayetteville on Monday, June 22nd in the presence of his loving family and friends.  Bob was born in Binghamton. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Skaneateles. Bob was raised in Endicott, graduating from Seton Catholic High School in 1970, SUNY Oneonta in 1974, Georgetown Dental School in 1978 before completing his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Bob had his oral surgery practice in the central New York area for his entire career. He was past president of the Onondaga County Dental Society and member of the 5th District Dental Society, Dewitt Rod and Gun Club, Ruffed Grouse Society of Central New York and the Syracuse/Canadian Fish and Game Club (Mexico, NY).  Bob grew up as a Boy Scout and spent as much time outdoors as was possible. His father, an avid outdoorsman, taught Bob how to hunt and fish.  This remained a passion throughout his life.  Trusted hunting companions, Fred and Sadie, his German Shorthaired Pointers, were never far from his side.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his “camp” overlooking Skaneateles Lake.  Bob was predeceased by his parents Walter P and Blanche M (Lovejoy) Vitkus.
He is survived by his brother, James W. (Suzanne) of Skaneateles; three nieces Lauren (Tim) Calnon of Victor, Karen of Skaneateles, Dianne of Syracuse and one great-nephew Patrick Robert Calnon of Victor.
Services are private with a memorial service at a later date. Burial will ultimately be in Calvary Cemetery, Binghamton.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Central New York and of the Finger Lakes and Nascentia Home Health for their wonderful care.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central New York and of the Finger Lakes, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088 and the Central New York Community Foundation in support of the Central New York Land Trust, 431 East Fayette Street, Suite 100, Syracuse, NY 13202.

I remember Bob from the Seton days and we have been fortunate to see Bob a few times a year when he would come to DeRuyter Lake to hunt with my brother. We will miss him and we hope our thoughts and prayers will help bring comfort to his family and friends.

Seems like only yesterday, Bob and I were residents together at St. Joseph's Hospital. He went on to study Oral Surgery and I went into Private General Practice. I was so glad, he ended up taking over my father's practices. His knowledge and skills were unsurpassed in the Upstate New York area. He will be sorely missed. God bless you Bob.

It is with a very heavy heart that I wish to extend my sincerest sympathies to Jim, Suzanne, Lauren, Karen and Dianne. Bob was one of a very few "loves" in my life! Although our relationship was a long time ago, I will always cherish the fun loving guy and gentlemen he was. I have lots of special memories including: a cruise to the Bahamas, vacation to Mexico and disco dancing lessons...as well as cooking tips from his Mom (I still make Mrs. V's "crazy cake") Although our lives went in different directions for many years, I am thankful we "re-connected" and were in touch via Skaneateles Lake connections. I will keep all of you, along with Steve and Judy and their family, in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time!! May all the wonderful, fond and happy memories provide you peace! I will always share your love for Bob!! Juli Sullivan

I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Vitkus' passing. He took out my wisdom teeth several years ago and did another related surgery a couple years later. I was so scared of oral surgery and anesthesia, especially since the first surgeon I consulted was dismissive and did not show much compassion. Dr. Vitkus took my concerns seriously and immediately put me at ease. Although I only knew him in the capacity of surgeon and patient, I am sure his compassionate and calming nature extended beyond his professional life. The world is a little dimmer without him.

As a childhood neighbor and friend, I hold many fond memories of Bob and Jim - swimming in and skating on the pond behind their house, hunting and watching their dad make maple syrup form the neighborhood trees every spring. It was a great time to grow up and friends like Bob and his bother Jim made it all the more special. We will miss him. Love to Jim, Suzanne and the girls.

I was so saddened to read that Dr. Vitkus had passed on recently. My son was a patient of his. Thanks to Dr. Vitkus he has been able to keep his real canine tooth, which was impacted, instead of replacing it with a fake implant. He was very professional and his expertise will be missed. My condolences to his family, staff, and friends.

I have just read this in the Sunday paper and am deeply saddened and shocked. Our whole family has been a patient of Bob’s over the last 20 plus years. He did a very difficult surgery on my husband in 1991 and one on me in January of this year. Most recently I was his patient from May 2018-February 2020. I had a rare cyst that eroded most of my jawbone. Can’t imagine having it taken care of by anyone else. He was always so calm and reassuring. My sympathy to the family. He will be greatly missed. God Bless,

I was a Nurse in the Oral Surgery Clinic at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland where Bob completed his residency. As a clinician he was excellent and as a human he was kind and compassionate. Metro catered to a very diverse population of patients. Dr. Vitkus treated all the patients with kindness and respect. He was equally kind and patient with the staff.
I am so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful talented gentleman and surgeon.

And the twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes.... never was there a shortage of admirers for this great guy. RIP Dr Bob Vitkus

My wish right now is that God should continue to bless Dr Emu for his good works towards the life of those people who are heart broken. My name is Michael DeBruin and I am from the USA, it's been a while since my lover's attitude changed from being the caring type she has been to me, but later turned out not to be caring at all. But not long, I later discovered that my lover was having an affair with someone else. and also she told me she doesn't need me after all we pass through then a friend told me about a spell caster. that with the spell I will get back my woman, I took his cell number then called him and also what's-app him which he reply to me and I did some sacrifices to the spell man and he bought the items for me which he used for the sacrifices and later called me that before 48 hours my love will come back to me and now we are more in love with each other than ever. you can reach him on WhatsApp +2347012841542 or reach him via mail ; emutemple@gmail.com , my lover returned back and broke up with the other guy she was having a relationship with... Thank you Dr Emu.

I TESTED POSITIVE FOR HSV-2 A FEW MONTHS AGO.
At first, Yes, I was devastated thinking I have an incurable STD for life. After doing hours of research I quickly realized genital herpes is a filthy parasite that just likes to hide in your body. Yes, There’s no “medical cure” but that doesn’t mean your body can’t get rid of it. I literally flush it out of my system with the help of Doctor Azuka, A natural herbal medicine which I ordered after doing some research. And now I’m HSV-2 negative, I never believed it until my doctor finally gave me the test results and behold I was HSV-2 free. I’m so glad that I found you, Doctor Azuka. Thanks so much for your goodness I’m grateful. You can also get your help from him through his

My ex-husband and I had always managed to stay friendly after our divorce in February 2017. But I always wanted to get back together with him, All it took was a visit to this spell casters website last December, because my dream was to start a new year with my husband, and live happily with him.. This spell caster requested a specific love spell for me and my husband, and I accepted it. And this powerful spell caster began to work his magic. And 48 hours after this spell caster worked for me, my husband called me back for us to be together again, and he was remorseful for all his wrong deeds. My spell is working because guess what: My “husband” is back and we are making preparations on how to go to court and withdraw our divorce papers ASAP. This is nothing short of a miracle. Thank you Dr Emu for your powerful spells. Words are not enough.
