Donald G. Becker

Donald G. Becker, 93, of The Common’s on Saint Anthony, formerly of Borodino, passed away January 27th, 2017.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce Rienhardt Becker, 3 children, Janet Haines (Richard) of Borodino, David Becker of Union Springs, Brenda Becker of Elbridge; six grandchildren: Phillip Haines (Adrienne) of Borodino, Jeffrey Haines (Tina) of Kirkville, Audrey Misiano (Kevin) of Marcellus, Kevin Haines of Borodino, Brian Becker (Kelly) of Penfield, Bradley Haines (Kelly) of Borodino, and 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Donald is predeceased by his parents, George and Lana Becker, brother Clifford Becker, and daughters-in-law Elaine Becker and Terri Becker.
Prior to living at The Commons, Donald was a lifetime resident of Borodino, dairy farmer, manager of a family business, Town of Spafford tax assessor and supervisor, and, in more recent years, a dedicated caregiver to his wife.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 16th from 5-7pm at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles. Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 17th at 1pm with an hour of calling hours before at Borodino Methodist Church. Donald will be buried in Borodino Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at The Commons for the dedicated and compassionate care provided our loved one. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Borodino United Methodist Church 1820 State Rte. 174, Skaneateles, NY 13152.

Such a lovely, old world gentleman. He would invite me into his home, even when our collie was wet and muddy. He just loved having us visit, and never complained about the mess. I loved listening to his stories about how he met and married his wife, and his life in Borodino. My thoughts and prayers are with the Becker family. They are a wonderful reflection of his life.

To the family,

I’m so sorry for your loss. In God's word the bible, God describes death as a 'sting'. (1 Corinthians 15: 56) A sting hurts and death is the ultimate sting. But there is good news that Jehovah God has for all of us. Through his son, Jesus Christ, the price was paid so that mankind would have the possibility to one day have everlasting life. What a wonderful gift that god and his son gave us. Jesus willingly gave his life so that one day 'the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing'. (1 Corinthians 15:26)

Dear Janet, David and Brenda
Our condolences to all of the family. I / we have nothing but great memories of your Dad. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. He was a great husband to Aunt Joyce. He was a great father to all his children, a great grandfather to all his grand and greatgrandchildren, a great Uncle.
All in all he was a great Man who ever walked on this earth.

I have fond memories of visiting the family farm during the summer when growing up. Uncle Donald & Aunt Joyce were always so nice to us. Uncle Donald was one of the most sincerely nice people I have ever known and I am fortunate to have had him as an uncle. My thoughts will be with you (Brenda, David, & Janet).

Offering deep condolences to the Becker family at this most difficult time. Just as Jesus viewed Lazarus as being sleep( but dead) John11:11,13,14, he also resurrected him back to life to his sister Martha, family and friends, John11:42-44.

Condolences to your family. May you receive comfort from the word of God during this time of loss. Acts 24:15 says there will be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. It seems so unfair that death should have the power to take away someone you love; and when it happens , the thought of never again being able to talk to, laugh with, or hold your love one can be most difficult to bear. That pain is not necessarily erased by being told that your love one is up in heaven. The bible, holds a out a much different hope. At Job 14:14,15, it says that the God of comfort Jehovah, yearns to bring back those who are in his memory and to see them alive on earth. I really hope this thought brings family and friends comfort.
