John P. Doyle Jr.

John P. Doyle Jr., 75, passed away Friday March 4, 2016 in Auburn surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Judith (Stovall), loving father of Patrick (Kathleen), Michael (Kelli) of Avon Lake, OH and Julie (Rich) Boedicker, he was the proud grandfather of Mary, Sean and Maggie Doyle; Austin, Brandon and Madison Doyle; and Neil and Ella Boedicker. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Mary Doyle of Alexandria, VA, several cousins and nephews, and many close friends. John and Judy were blessed with 51 years of marriage. They were wed August 22, 1964 in Starkville, Mississippi.
Born in Auburn, John was a resident of Melbourne, Florida and spent summers at Skaneateles Lake. He was predeceased by his parents John P. and Mary Carpenter Doyle of Auburn, and brother James C. Doyle of Alexandria, Virginia. He was corporate secretary, corporate council and assistant to president at Red Star at Red Star Express Lines prior to opening his own law practice in Auburn, NY. He was affiliated with Boyle & Anderson, P.C. at the end of his law career,
until his retirement.
John was a graduate of the first class of Mt. Carmel High School in Auburn and did his undergraduate work at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He earned an LL.B. degree from University at Buffalo Law School.
A member of Sacred Heart Church in Auburn and St. Mary’s Church in Rockledge, FL, he was also a member of the Cayuga County Bar Association, JFK Div. #1 Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus Council #207, and the Elks Lodge #474. John was a former member of Dutch Hollow Country Club and Highland Park Golf Club.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Tuesday, March 8th at Sacred Heart Church with the celebrant Fr. Lou Vasile. The Robert D. Gray Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn, NY 13021 or Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive,

John was a good friend from college days at John Carroll and in retirement in Melbourne FL where we palled around to baseball games, lunches, and events in the area.
